Inaugural Plenary

Over the last few years, the global competitive landscape has seen the emergence of competitors from emerging or rapidly developing economies. Indian companies have also played their part in this new phenomenon. The inaugural plenary attempts to look back at the path traversed and the path yet to be undertaken. The plenary aims at not only contributing new inputs but also draw parallels from noteworthy lessons towards making India 's pharma story, consistent and successful. This plenary also aims at giving an overview of the essence of the Summit apart from providing effective insights about the performance and prospects, of the Indian Pharma Industry.

Plenary I : 1200 – 1315 hrs: “India Pharma Inc. – The Year That Was - Analysis & Prognosis ”: This session will emphasise upon the key drivers and growth enablers of the Indian Pharma Industry in the world's largest markets largely supported by facts and figures. Besides discussing the challenges and measures which make the business models deliver, the success stories of Joint Venture and collaborations will also be discussed. The session would also encompass a broader global vision of growth, expansion, new markets and mergers and acquisitions in the Indian Pharma Industry. It is also attempted to shed some light on the performance of the mergers and acquisitions in terms of their management and the return on Investment.

Plenary II: 1400 – 1600 hrs: “India Pharma Inc. – Business Landscape, Emerging Opportunities & Challenges”: India Inc. has been growing at an explosive pace, over the last decade. Indian corporates have reached milestone after milestone in many sectors today. This session would discuss the current industry environment, business fundamentals and the global opportunities thereby, also presenting an analyst's perspective of the drivers of valuation, in each of the sub sectors. Further, the session aims at showcasing the technology challenges as faced by various facets of the industry be it the production, distribution or product development. Given the fact that the world is shrinking to a global village with things moving into easy reach, this session would also focus on the impact of improved connectivity for the Indian Pharma Inc, in future.

Plenary III : 1620 – 1805 hrs “India Pharma Inc. – The Road Ahead”: This session deals with the future course of action and the game plan to be adopted by the MNCs in order to derive better benefits especially in the light of intense competition form the domestic Pharma majors. The Generic Business models, which will aid in adapting in a seemingly adverse environment, would also be highlighted upon along with the innovative funding and success models in the face of enhanced R & D expenditures and the idea of partnering opportunities under CRAMS. It will also focus and highlight the role played by the IT and the Logistics as facilitators for the industry in adopting the most optimal way of production and distribution, thereby, gaining economies on the costs involved.
